Follow Alain Gillot's travels
Passionate about travel and adventure, Alain Gillot shares his travels with you through his social media accounts (Instagram & Facebook), audiovisual presentations and photography exhibitions. He criss-crosses throughout Europe, North and South America, Southeast Asia and Africa, with a particular interest in navigating other rivers and seas.
Philosophy
Far from mass tourism, we prioritize interaction by welcoming a maximum of 12 passengers to allow for personalized exchanges. We are open to suggestions and requests from our guests. The times and days are flexible for most trips, during which you can admire the scenery, listen to our commentaries, or even participate in the maneuvers.
Alain Gillot
Sophie's brother, a native of the village
As a child, his playground was already the Loire River, where he enjoyed windsurfing and catamaran sailing. After starting his career in industrial automation in France, he left the industry to retrain. He then worked as a sailing instructor and nature guide in Mayenne and Brittany.
In winter, passionate about travel, he crisscrossed the globe and gave slide shows and lectures.
In 2007, employed by the Montjean tourist office, he became the new captain of the iconic barge “La Montjeannaise.”
In 2010, he created “Rêves de Loire et D'ailleurs” in Thoureil, combining the discovery of the Loire on a traditional boat with his travels.
Sophie Gillot
Alain's sister, born in the village
As a child, she followed her older brother in water sports on the Loire River, developing a taste for nature and adventure.
After studying languages in Angers, she taught in Great Britain and France. Her experiences led her to discover English-speaking countries.
In 2017, as part of a career change, she trained as an executive assistant in Montpellier. Sophie then joined the business and obtained her boat licenses.
After expanding her knowledge of the Loire, she became a pilot guide and manages the administrative side of “Rêves de Loire et d'ailleurs.” She is committed to meeting passengers' expectations as best she can to give them a unique experience on the Loire.
